Dr Carla Houkamau (Te Wh-?nau o T+?whakairiora ??? Ng-?ti Porou, Ng-?ti Kere ??? Ng-?ti Kahungunu, K-?ti H-?teatea ki Moeraki ??? K-?i Tahu), who has written the English text, is a professor in the Department of Management and International Business, and the deputy dean for the Faculty of Business and Economics, the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau. Raised in central Hawke???s Bay, Carla grew up in a large wh-?nau of hunters, divers, and fishers. Her academic work includes over eighty publications, spanning journal articles, conference papers, and commissioned reports. Of both M-?ori and P-?keh-? descent, Carla has a deep personal interest in the history of M-?ori???P-?keh-? relations. Dr Robert Pouwhare (Ng-?i T+?hoe), who has written the reo M-?ori text, is a professional teaching fellow at the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau. Robert has spent a lifetime advancing te reo M-?ori ??? through his work in M-?ori television, his PhD dissertation which focuses on ng-? p+?r-?kau m+? M-?ui ??? the M-?ui narratives, and his role at Te Taura Whiri i te Reo M-?ori (the M-?ori Language Commission), where he trains and certifies translators and interpreters.
